NOTE: due to demand, Esethu is now doing a workshop on Google Sites, below.
The use of visualisation tools can make mathematical concepts more concrete and easier to understand for students. This can be especially helpful for students who have maths anxiety, as it can help them to visualise what they are learning and to see how the concepts apply to real-world problems. In this workshop, we will explore some online resources and simulations e.g. PhET Simulation, Mathigon, Visnos etc, that can be used to help you teach mathematics. These resources can provide you with interactive activities, tutorials, and simulations that can help students to learn mathematical concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Computational thinking (CT) is the ability to solve problems, design systems, and create art using the abstraction, decomposition, pattern recognition, algorithm design, and evaluation of computer science. It is a valuable skill for students to learn, as it can be applied to a wide range of fields, including mathematics, science, engineering, and computer science. In this workshop, you’ll explore different ways of integrating computational thinking into mathematics lessons, and to see how it can be used to solve problems. You’ll learn how to break down problems, ‘abstract’ critical information, observe patterns, and identify the logical steps to solve them. You’ll also explore some coding and robotics elements that can be used in the classroom. Bring along mathematical problems from your classes and we will use computational thinking to enhance your instructional strategy.
Experience the evolution of Google Sites as it transforms into a dynamic blend of creativity and practicality. This platform empowers you to craft stunning websites with zero coding skills, effortlessly adapting to the digital demands of our era. With an intuitive interface, Google Sites allows individuals and educators to curate captivating online spaces that captivate global audiences.
In this workshop, the participants will explore using Google Sites to mix pictures, videos, and documents. Participants will also learn to collaborate in real-time to improve their projects. Plus, participants will develop the necessary skills to make their content look fantastic on any mobile device using Google Sites. 🌍💡
