This highly interactive session will take participants through the process of creating culturally sensitive/responsive technology-rich learning opportunities for students. We will examine and participate in several key instructional outcome areas and identify technology-rich integration strategies. Key takeaways are as follows: 1. What are the characteristics of and how to become better culturally responsive educators? 2. What are the characteristics of and how do we ensure cultural relevance in our learning environments? 3. How and why does technology play a critical role in both areas of culture as well as sustainability in providing equitable access to learning?
promoting the Four Cs to develop sustainable solutions to real problems
Utilizing a series of design and thinking protocols participants will utilize this design-thinking process within a definable thematic area to develop a real tangible solution to an existing school/culture challenge . The key elements for this session are the emphasis on learning through the process, not the outcome. Identifying reasons why true civic engagement, cultural and community context, and learner empowerment are essential in all our learning environments. This highly interactive session will also support adaptations of the protocols to any curricular area and expands to additional focal areas such as Equity, Social-Emotional Learning, and many others.
